On May 13th, Governor Hickenlooper signed Senate Bill 15-282 authorizing a Rural Jump Start program to help economic development efforts in distressed communities in rural Colorado.  The bill is designed to bring new businesses to the state of Colorado and help them locate in rural communities.  New businesses must be new to operating in Colorado, employ five or more people, along with some other requirements.  The program guidelines still need to be setup and communities will need to apply for designation.

La Junta Economic Development can really benefit from the Rural Jump Start Program by using it for marketing and business attraction efforts.
