La Junta being a family oriented community, offers plenty of schools for our residents children to give them a district wide Colorado Education framework. La Junta values community involvement, you will see from our events calendar, a lot of our events are events put on by our schools. From elementary schools, middle schools and high schools, La Junta has a higher than state average of high school graduates, which is a big win for our community.

La Junta is also home to OJC (Otero Junior College). OJC is one of Colorado’s top community colleges. They offer associate degree diplomas as well as Technical Certificates of Credit Programs in over 47 diverse program areas. The student to teacher ratio can’t be beat, in a small college such as this one, students can expect to get quality teaching and education with the 19 to 1 ratio of students to teachers. Otero Junior College is also home to great sports programs. Whether you like to participate or sit on the sidelines, their Basketball, Baseball or Softball programs and their athletics department is one to watch.

Founded in 1941, Otero Junior College is located on an attractive 40-acre campus on the southern edge of La Junta, Colorado. Otero Junior College is proud of its reputation as one of the finest community colleges in the State of Colorado.
